Looking for a fun event to attend in the Outer Banks? Come out and experience the excitement the Outer Banks has to offer this fall! Did you know that the Outer Banks has numerous sporting events? From 5K’s to marathons and obstacle courses to triathlons; the OBX has so much to offer athletes all year long! Two of the biggest running events are the OBX Marathon and the Southern Fried Half Marathon on the weekend of November 7-9. Below is a list of upcoming runs in November:
The Outer Banks Marathon weekend starts with the Expo and packet pick-up on Friday. Then on Saturday there will be a 5K, 10K, Family Fun Run, and a pasta party.
The Outer Banks Marathon takes place on Sunday – Run past scores of OBX residents as you make your way through the village of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, the maritime forest of Nags Head and the historic Town of Manteo. The Southern Fried Half Marathon also happens on Sunday – Beginning in Nags Head, take this scenic tour as you explore Jockey’s Ridge State Park, cross the Washington-Baum Bridge and finish in Manteo. Don’t forget your Southern Fried Sweet Taters at the Finish! The awards ceremony and block party in Manteo concludes all the fun. Walkers are also welcome. Even if you’re not an athlete, it’s so much fun to cheer for them!
The 19th Annual Advice 5k Turkey Trot – Although registration is closed, if you are in the area, this event is a must see. Beginning on Scarborough Lane and finishing up with a finish line full of post race festivities.
November 27th The Outer Banks Running Club Gobbler 5k and Fun Run in Nags Head – Another fun event to check out on Thanksgiving!
