1. Taste of the Beach (March)
The annual Taste of the Beach festival takes place every March and involves four days full of food, drinks, and fun in the Outer Banks. Sample the area’s delicious cuisine prepared by critically acclaimed chefs. 2. St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March)
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Outer Banks travels the greenest mile in Nags Head, NC. Over 1,500 participants and approximately 10,000 spectators celebrate an afternoon filled with floats, live music, marching bands, and all things green. This fabulous March event is sponsored by Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern.
3. Duck & Wine Festival (April)
One of our favorite Outer Banks Events, the Duck & Wine Festival is a celebration of local cuisine featuring the best chefs from restaurants in Duck, NC. It’s the perfect way to dive into spring and experience the freshest takes on local Outer Banks seafood and wine!
4. Mustang Music Festival (May & October)
Mustang Music Festival hosts two incredible events featuring the best Outer Banks concerts. In May, experience the annual Mustang Spring Jam at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in Corolla, NC. The jam features a collection of national touring bands who play nonstop music from early in the afternoon until well past the sunset.
If you’re in town in the fall, attend Corolla’s annual Mustang Rock and Roast which includes an outdoor oyster roast, a pork barbeque cook-off, and plenty of live music from national, regional, and local performers. You’ll definitely want this fun event on your Outer Banks itinerary!
5. Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational (June)
Water sports enthusiasts should mark their calendars for the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational in Cape Hatteras, NC. This thrilling event, which takes place in June, showcases the talent of the best wake-style kiteboarders in the area. Enjoy exciting competitions, as well as live music, a fashion show, autograph signings, and an awards party!
6. Independence Day Celebrations (July)
The Outer Banks is home to some of the best 4th of July celebrations! There’s a range of events to experience from the Freedom 5k in Kill Devil Hills to fireworks off the Avalon fishing pier. You can also catch fireworks shows off the Nags Head fishing pier and over the sound in Manteo. With sunny skies, warm weather, and plenty of activities, the 4th of July is a great time to be in the Outer Banks.
7. The Lost Colony Wine & Culinary Festival (September)
At the Lost Colony Wine & Culinary Festival, Chef Thomas prepares a culinary experience paired with wines from the Virginia Dare Winery while representatives of the Coppola wine family detail the wine accompaniment. You’ll also enjoy relaxing music and a silent auction of select wines and wine gifts, and a tasting trip.
8. Bluegrass Island Festival (October)
The Bluegrass Island Festival takes place each year in October at the Bluegrass Island Trading Co. in Manteo, NC. The festival takes place in Nags Head and provides a delicious, fun, and educational experience. Along with fantastic food, you’ll also find great live music, arts, and crafts!
10. Duck Jazz Festival (October)
Duck Jazz Festival is a one-of-a-kind jazz experience in the Outer Banks! Enjoy fantastic Jazz music in the town of Duck over the Columbus Day weekend!
