Are you crazy or just half crazy?

If you’ve ever run a half marathon before than you know the electricity that runs through every person that day. From the runners to the spectators, the day is full of excitement and thrills.
The half marathon starts on The Woods Road in Kitty Hawk where runners will be cheered on by locals, spectators, family members and even pas the Kitty Hawk Fire Department. The highlight for many is the run around the monument that stands for the Wright Brothers whose first flight lasted about 12 seconds and took place on the Outer Banks.

From Bay Drive, runners will make their way to Old Nags Head Woods Road which leads to Nags Head Woods. This ecological preserve is homes to thousands of species. The coolness of the lush woods is welcomed by all and the chance to see nature at its best keeps the excitement high.
By the end of the race, entrants will have experienced running a flat course on both paved roads and packed dirt trails, seen monuments to history, beautiful water views and several animal species living in Nags Head Woods.

The weekend is full of fun events for all ages of scallywags! The event weekend begins with the First Flight 5K Saturday morning at the Wright Brothers Memorial Park. After the 5K, there is an awards ceremony and the Pirate Race Expo. Sunday is the BIG day with the half marathon beginning at 7:00am on the Woods Road in Kitty Hawk. Racers will run the course and end in Pirates Quay in Nags Head. The Post-Race party begins at 8:30am for all you crazy or half-crazy folks.
