Yes! Dogs are allowed on Outer Banks beaches, however, each town has different pet regulations that vary considerably. Some beaches restrict the times that dogs can be on the beach. The towns that are arguably the most dog-friendly are Duck, Corolla, and Nags Head.
Dogs on the Beach Rules by Outer Banks Town:

- Duck: Enjoy the freedom of Duck Beach where dogs can roam off-leash. Owners must supervise closely to ensure safety for all. www.townofduck.com
- Southern Shores: From May 15 to September 15, dogs are permitted on the beach before 9 am and after 6 pm. Leashes must not exceed 10 feet, and owners should promptly clean up after their pets. www.southernshores.org
- Kitty Hawk: Dogs can enjoy the beach but must wear a current rabies tag. During peak season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, leashes must be under 12 feet between 10 am and 6 pm. Off-leash dogs must remain within 30 feet of their owner, who should have a leash ready. www.townofkittyhawk.org
