With spring having arrived in all its glory it’s a splendid time to come visit the Outer Banks. While you’re here, plan on taking advantage of the Fly Into Spring & Easter Extravaganza. All events are free and are a whole lot of fun for the entire family! These events kick off the season for Kitty Hawk Kites. A Kite Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. This is also where you’ll see the largest living sand dune on the entire east coast.
Across the street from the Kite Festival the Easter Eggstravaganza will take place at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing Shopping Center. There will be an Easter egg hunt starting at 11 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. The event will be broken down by age group – ages 3 and under, ages 4-6, and ages 7-12. Parents should bring an Easter basket for their children to put their collected eggs into. Watch for the Golden Egg and be sure to bring your camera to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
Also being held in the area are YoYo Schools. On Friday, April 18 yoyo school will start at 10 a.m. in Corolla, 12 noon in Duck and at 3 p.m. in Nags Head. There will be a yoyo competition at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 across from Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head.
