1. Wright Brothers National Memorial
No trip is complete to the Outer Banks without a stop to the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Located in Kill Devil Hills, the site is open every day out of the year except for Christmas. The site commemorates the first flight of Orville and Wilbur Wright on December 17, 1903. Because it is operated by the National Park Service, visitors can go to the exact site where the flight was held. There, you’ll see replicas of the glider and flyers the Wright brothers constructed. You don’t want to miss this!

2. Beaches

6. Lighthouses
See one of the most impressive and beautiful lighthouses in the country in Buxton as you visit the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for seniors to visit the U.S. Historical Site.

7. Ocean

The Outer Banks is known for having its majestic wild horses that were brought over nearly 500 years ago by Spanish explorers. Take a 4×4 tour and check out these horses in their habitat. There are plenty of opportunities to spot the wild horses, but make sure to book a tour before you head out.
